Aesthetics,
Method, and Epistemology: Essential Works of Foucault, 1954-1984,
Volume II by Michel
Foucault, Robert Hurley (Translator), James D. Faubion
(Editor), Paul Rabinow
Now in paperback, the second volume in the
definitive collection of Foucault's shorter writings, a Voice
Literary Supplement bestseller. Few philosophers have had as
strong an influence on the twentieth century as Michel Foucault.
Aesthetics, Method, and Epistemology, the second volume of
Essential Works of Foucault, 1954-1984, surveys Foucault's diverse
but sustained address of the historical forms and interplay of
passion, experience, and truth. Now in paperback, this volume
includes commentaries on the work of de Sade, Rousseau, Marx,
Nietzsche, Freud, Roussel, and Boulez. It also includes some of
Foucault's most trenchant reflections on the historical
constitution of aesthetic and critical imagination, providing
unique insight into Foucault's original and hugely influential
philosophical program.

ArtAIDS has been operating since 1 Dec, 1994 as
an ongoing Internet project which commemorates and celebrates the
fight against AIDS.
It's purpose has been to create a webspace where
people can create digital works of art that tell of their
experience. It has also aimed to enable people who would like to
participate in a global project to do so without curatorial
constraints or the need to be part of a larger group.

Essay by Douglas Crimp
Excerpt:
A critical distance that attempts only to
account for the deferred action of avant-garde practices in the
present offers little, however, in the way of the critique of
intellectual vanguardism, where the critic as universal subject
remains unspecified, outside, above the fray, imperiously
adjudicating, pointing out all the dangers along the way...

Queer Arts Resource is a not-for-profit
educational forum for the display and discussion of queer art and
culture. Until the recent advent of Queer Studies, the History of
Art has omitted most material of direct relevance to lesbians and
gays. Much has been suppressed, much has been lost due to neglect
or censorship, and a great deal has simply been overlooked. QAR is
expanding the range and depth of knowledge about contemporary and
historical queer art, and making this information freely available
on their website.
