The LGBT-Straight Alliance provides support, social
activities, education, and political involvement for LGBT people and their
allies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. With help from EQUALITY,
the faculty/staff LGBT-Straight Alliance, we aim to: promote
campus awareness; alleviate isolation by providing
group interaction in a non-threatening environment and
actively pursue the end of social, political and legal oppression of LGBT
people. Membership is open to all LGBT students,
community members, and straight allies who wish to contribute their ideas
and support to LGBT causes.

Lesbian and Gay Studies investigates the
historical and contemporary experiences of people traditionally neglected
in scholarship and courses. It explores questions about sexuality as
well as identity, community, representation, diversity, assimilation, and
discrimination that are both academically and socially significant.
Work in this innovative field includes material and methods from many
disciplines: English and foreign languages, Allied Health Professions,
Anthropology, Art History, Biology, Communications, Economics, Fine Arts,
History, Music, Nursing, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and
Social Welfare.
The Gay and Lesbian Studies Certificate
Program provides a curricular structure for undergraduates interested in
the interdisciplinary study of same-sex relations, and human sexuality
more generally, in past and present cultures.
